The diffuse infrared photoelectric sensor emits modulated infrared light from an infrared LED. When the light illuminates the surface of an object, due to the roughness of the object's surface, the light undergoes diffuse reflection. Part of the diffusely reflected light is received by the photoelectric receiver, which converts it into a weak electrical signal. After amplification and filtering, this signal is compared with a preset threshold. If the signal strength exceeds the threshold, the sensor output level changes, indicating that an object has been detected; otherwise, it indicates that no object has been detected.

Due to the harsh car wash environment (high humidity, water splashes, detergent corrosion, vibration), ordinary photoelectric switches cannot cope; industrial-grade waterproof and corrosion-resistant types must be used:

1. High protection level: Usually equipped with IP67 protection, capable of withstanding high-pressure water jet washing and prolonged immersion.

2. Corrosion-resistant materials: The casing is often made of high-strength engineering plastics to resist corrosion from car wash liquids and de-icing agents.

3. Anti-interference capability: Equipped with strong light suppression function to prevent interference from direct sunlight or other onsite light sources; it can also filter false signals caused by water mist and foam.

4. Fast response speed: Millisecond-level response ensures that vehicles moving at high speed can also be accurately detected.
