ESMFS Waterproof Side-Mount Duckbill Float Level Reed switch

Waterproof duckbill-type float level switch (also known as duckbill-style, side-mounted float switch) is a compact, highly reliable point-level detection switch. Its core operation relies on buoyancy and magnetic force to achieve high and low liquid level alarms or pump control for start/stop. It is named 'duckbill' because the side-mounted installation part resembles a duck's bill.
Typical Application Scenarios:
Civil: Water dispensers, water heaters, solar energy systems, humidifiers, coffee machines, water tower dry-run prevention
Industrial: Cooling water tanks, hydraulic oil tanks, sewage treatment tanks, chemical storage tanks, fire water tanks
Equipment: Air conditioners, air compressors, machine tools, packaging machinery liquid level control ...

    Working Principle

It is mainly based on Archimedes' buoyancy principle. When the liquid level changes, the float moves up or down with the liquid level, driving the switch through lever transmission or magnetic coupling to achieve the opening and closing of the circuit. Among them, the mechanical contact float switch directly drives the mechanical contacts to open or close through a lever; the magnetic float switch uses the magnetic force between the magnet inside the float and the reed switch to control the closing and opening of the reed switch.

    1. Buoyancy drive: When the liquid level rises or falls, the float (usually made of PP, PVC, or stainless steel) moves with the liquid surface.
    2. Lever transmission: The float is connected to a cantilever arm (i.e., a "duckbill" arm). The float's up-and-down movement drives the cantilever to rotate around the axis.
    3. Magnetic triggering: A permanent magnet is installed inside the cantilever or at the rotating shaft. When it rotates to a specific angle (i.e., the set liquid level), the magnet approaches the reed switch fixed inside the pipe wall.
    4. Signal output: The magnetic field causes the reed switch contacts to close (normally open type) or open (normally closed type), thus connecting or disconnecting external circuits such as water pumps or alarms.

    Product Features

Compared with vertical rod-type float switches, the duckbill type (side-mounted cantilever type) has the following characteristics:
    1. Strong anti-fouling ability: Due to its large swing amplitude and open structure, it is not easily jammed by suspended particles, oil, or viscous liquids in water, making it very suitable for harsh media such as sewage, wastewater, and slurry.
    2. Flexible installation: It can be mounted on the side wall of the container, without the need to drill a hole at the top of the container, especially suitable for retrofitting old tanks or situations where the top cannot be drilled.
    3. Passive operation: Pure mechanical magnetic induction, can directly control AC/DC loads without external power supply (current limit should be noted). ...
