The UC500-F42 is a square ultrasonic proximity sensor with a detection range of 50–500mm and a blind zone of 0–50mm, operating at 10–30VDC. It uses a 390kHz ultrasonic time-of-flight principle for non-contact distance measurement, with built-in temperature compensation, and is unaffected by object color, dust, or light. It supports PNP/NPN switching outputs and 4–20mA/0–10V analog outputs, with detection windows adjustable via TEACH programming. It has a repeatability of ≤0.5%FS and a response time of approximately 50ms. The sensor features an ABS housing with IP54 protection, an M12 connector, and dimensions of 80×80×34mm. It is suitable for liquid/solid level monitoring, transparent object detection, automated positioning, and AGV obstacle avoidance, and is compatible with PLC systems.

Working Principle

The ultrasonic proximity switch's transmitter emits high-frequency ultrasonic waves. When these waves encounter an object, they are reflected back. The receiver captures the reflected echoes, and by measuring the time it takes for the ultrasonic waves to travel from transmission to reception, and combining this with the propagation speed of ultrasound in air, the distance between the sensor and the object can be calculated. When the distance reaches a preset threshold, the switch outputs the corresponding signal.
