LJ30A3 IP67 M30 cylindrical inductive proximity switch sensor
Working Principle
The cylindrical inductive proximity switch contains a coil inside. When powered, the coil generates an alternating magnetic field. When a metal object approaches this magnetic field, eddy currents are induced within the object. The generation of eddy currents consumes energy, causing a change in the inductance of the coil. The switch's internal oscillation circuit continuously monitors changes in inductance, and when the change reaches a preset threshold, the switch changes its output state, thereby detecting the approach of the metal object.
Difference between capacitive proximity switch and inductive proximity switch: Capacitive can detect both metal and non-metal (liquids, powders, etc.) but is easily affected by environmental humidity; inductive only detects metal and has stronger anti-interference capability.
Product Features
1. Extra-long detection distance
Can reach 10mm ~ 15mm
Application value: Allows the sensor to be installed farther from the target object, avoiding damage from collisions with robotic arms, conveyors, or other moving parts. It is especially suitable for space-constrained environments or situations requiring safety isolation.
2. Strong mechanical strength and protection capability
Sturdy housing: Usually made of nickel-plated brass, capable of withstanding significant lateral pressure and impact.
High protection level: Most M30 switches have an IP67 rating. IP67: Dust-proof and can be temporarily submerged in water.
High/low temperature resistance: Many industrial-grade M30 models have an operating temperature range of -25°C to 70°C.
3. Diverse installation methods
M30 usually offers two main types of installation to suit different mechanical structures:
Flush installation (Flush / Shielded): The sensing face is surrounded by a metal shield ring, which can be embedded in a metal hole for installation. The sides are not affected by metal interference, but the detection distance is slightly shorter.
Non-flush installation (Non-flush / Unshielded): The sensing face has no shield, offering a longer detection distance. However, sufficient non-metallic space must be left on the sides and back during installation to prevent interference.
4. Rich electrical functions and intelligent features
Modern M30 proximity switches are not just simple switches, often integrating more intelligent functions:
Multiple output types: Supports DC NPN/PNP, AC, and even two-wire configurations.
Normally open/normally closed (NO/NC): Many models support logic switching via wiring or built-in DIP switches.
Status indicator lights: Usually equipped with a 360° visible LED indicator (yellow indicates output status, green indicates power/operation status), facilitating long-distance observation and troubleshooting.
Protection circuits: Built-in short-circuit protection, reverse polarity protection, and surge suppression prevent damage due to wiring mistakes.
