How It Works: Measurement Principle

The operation of the ESMZX Small Rotary Paddle Level Switch is elegantly simple yet highly effective. A low-speed electric synchronous motor drives a stainless steel paddle that rotates continuously at 1 RPM in the absence of material.

Free Rotation: When the material level is below the paddle, the motor runs normally and the paddle rotates freely.
Material Contact: When the material rises and reaches the paddle, the rotation is obstructed.
Switching Action: The resistance causes the internal motor assembly to rotate slightly against a spring, activating a micro-switch. This cuts off power to the motor (stopping rotation to extend motor life) and simultaneously switches the output contact signal (SPDT) to trigger alarms or system controls (PLC/DCS).
Automatic Reset: Once the material falls below the paddle, the spring returns the motor assembly to its original position, restoring power to the motor and resetting the signal.

Mounting Angle: For top-mounting, install vertically. For side-mounting, mount the device with an angle of 15° to 20° downward to reduce direct material impact on the paddle.
Avoid Direct Flow: Do not install the switch directly under the material inlet. If direct impact is unavoidable, install a protective baffle above the paddle.
Sealing the Cable Gland: Ensure the cable entry points downward to prevent moisture condensation or rainwater from sliding along the cable into the housing.
Tightening Torque: Use proper thread sealants (like PTFE tape) and tighten carefully to prevent dust leakages, especially in pressurized bins.
