    Working Principle

    The transit-time ultrasonic flow meter is based on the physical characteristic that the propagation speed of ultrasound in a fluid is affected by the flow velocity. The instrument installs a pair of sensors on both sides of the pipe, alternately transmitting and receiving ultrasound. When the ultrasound propagates downstream, the sound speed adds to the flow speed, shortening the propagation time; when propagating upstream, the sound speed counteracts the flow speed, lengthening the propagation time.

    A high-precision timing circuit accurately measures the time difference between downstream and upstream propagation. This time difference is strictly proportional to the average flow velocity of the fluid: the faster the flow, the greater the time difference; when the fluid is stationary, the time difference is zero. The instrument's microprocessor, combined with user input parameters such as pipe diameter and material, converts the time difference into the instantaneous flow velocity through temperature compensation and flow field correction algorithms, and then multiplies it by the pipe cross-sectional area to obtain the volumetric flow rate.

    This method has no mechanical moving parts and causes no pressure loss. It is particularly suitable for high-precision bidirectional measurement of clean liquids such as water and oil, making it the mainstream choice for industrial process control and trade settlement.
